Most underwater photographers would never contemplate trying to work at 120 metres in British waters to shoot shipwrecks, but, Leigh Bishop dives straight in and produces a wealth of extremely well executed results. Leigh is an active British technical diver and has carried out deepwater exploration and photography of the classic treasure wreck Egypt, in the Bay of Biscay, Titanic’s legendary sister Britannic, and more recently, the liner Transylvania which rests 135 metres in the North Atlantic Ocean.
He is currently working with the History Channel US and the Museum unveiling the history behind the Flying Enterprise which is sitting on the sea bed at 85m some 45 miles from Falmouth. Leigh is a true pioneer, bringing back images from a realm that most of us would never dare to visit.
Talking about his profession, Leigh says: “We are in the golden age of shipwreck exploration but have only just scraped the surface of what’s to come.” This illustrated lecture promises to be a real journey to the deep and tickets costing £5, or £12.50 to include a hot buffet, should be booked in advance by calling 01326 214 557.
