Legacies
Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the best ways of securing the continuation of our work for future generations to enjoy. Legacies contribute towards the long term financial stability of the Museum as well as reducing the potential inheritance tax liability on your estate, because legacies to a registered charity such as National Maritime Museum Cornwall are tax free.
The Museum has developed a list of ways in which individuals can support us. To view this list, visit our donations page. This should help to give you a picture of the wide range of projects we are working on at any one time.
The conservation or restoration of one of the boats in our collection can cost anything from £4,000 to £12,000, depending on the amount of work required. We normally carry out one of these large restoration projects each year. We have recently carried out two very successful restoration projects on boats in our water-based collection.
We introduce new education programmes all the time. To develop and deliver an education programme costs £3,000 a year and potentially benefits thousands of children from pre-school through to further and higher education. Leaving a gift in your Will would support projects like this and would ensure that our work continues for future generations to enjoy.
If you would like to speak to someone in confidence about leaving a legacy to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall or adding a Codicil to your existing Will, or you would like us to send you one of our ‘Support Us’ leaflets, please call Naomi on 01326 214561 or email her at naomibelert@nmmc.co.uk
