Ellen Winser (Chairman)
Ellen was one of the first women members of the London Stock Exchange but, having sailed over 50,000 miles around the world, now lives in Cornwall. She is Chairman of the governors of Truro College, a member of the board of the SW Regional Development Agency and is a non-executive director of several other companies and charities. Ellen was the winner of the Business category in the first Cornwall Women of Achievement Awards, 2006.
Michael Evans
Michael Evans is the Chairman and Group Managing Director of the Ocean BMW and MINI dealerships in Cornwall and Devon. His home is in Falmouth.
Captain G A Hogg RN Rtd
George has strong Cornish roots as his great grandfather was a shipbuilder at Feock. He now lives near Padstow. He has been the Hon Curator of the Cornwall Maritime Museum Falmouth since 1993.
Sam Hunt
Sam Hunt is an Associate and Senior Consultant with Kingshurst Consulting and is working on a variety of projects across the country. He was, until July, Chief Executive of the MLA South West, the regional development agency for museums in the South West, and before that the Chief Executive of the South West Museums Council. He has been associated with a number of major projects in Cornwall and the South West and has a wide experience of museums and museum practice.
Michael Knight
Michael Knight is a former senior advisory partner with Ernst & Young who, having retired from the firm, now lives in Devon and is a non-executive director of two public companies as well as treasurer of his local yacht club. He is a keen yacht and dinghy sailor. Educated in Devon and at Exeter University, Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant and spent all his first working career in Ernst & Young, spending time on secondment both in the USA and for the NatWest Bank. He was lead partner with a range of blue-chip companies and government agencies and has been involved in several company flotations.
Anthony Pawlyn
Tony comes from a line of Cornish fishermen, mariners, ship-owners and fish-merchants. He was a founder member and former Chairman of the South West Maritime History Society and has written extensively about the Cornish fisheries, Cornish luggers and other local fishing craft and the Falmouth packets. Tony is a Trustee of the Cornwall Maritime Museum since 1996 and became their chairman in 2002.
Roger Stephens
Roger Stephens worked in a senior capacity with a major national children's charity. His interest in maritime history manifests itself as founder of the Gaffers and Luggers Association; founder of the Falmouth Quay Punt Association; member of the South West Maritime History Society; Trustee of the Cornwall Maritime Museum; and volunteer in the NMMC Bartlett Library.
Simon Tregoning
Simon is a partner and Managing Director of Classic Cottages Ltd, a holiday home marketing agency, with 500 holiday homes spread throughout the West Country. He has chaired the Cornwall Commercial Tourism Federation (the private sector voice for tourism in the County) and is on the executive of the Cornwall Tourism Forum (the private/public sector partnership).
Dr Barbara Vann
Barbara Vann is Headteacher of Penair Secondary School, Truro. Educated in Leicestershire, she has an MA from the University of Leicester and PhD from the University of Tasmania. Formerly a Headteacher in Leicestershire, Barbara moved to Cornwall in 1997 where she quickly became involved in the life of the county, being on the board on several organisations and contributing to both educational and other committees. In 2004/5 she was chair of the Cornwall Association of Headteachers.
James Staughton
James Staughton is Managing Director of St Austell Brewery which was founded by his great great grandfather Walter Hicks in 1851. The Brewery is one of the largest private Cornish companies employing over 1,000 people and has 173 pubs in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. As well as being a Trustee of the museum, James is a non-executive Director of the Cornwall Development Company, Chairman of St. Austell Town Centre Strategic Group and Chairman of Clean Cornwall.
