The National Maritime Museum Cornwall has once again teamed up with The Mission to Seafarers to launch their annual Christmas at Sea card competition. Local schools and all children visiting the Museum are invited to create a card for seafarers, away from their homes and loved ones. The Mission to Seafarers will then distribute the cards to all seafarers in port on Christmas Day and to those who visit The Flying Angel Centre during the Christmas period.
The cards will also be entered into a competition to win a family ticket to the Maritime Museum and a voucher to spend in the Museum gift shop courtesy of The Mission to Seafarers. The winning designers will also receive 25 Christmas cards based on their design. The closing date for entries is 24 December.
Penny Phillips from The Mission to Seafarers says: “All the children’s creative efforts and kind messages are truly appreciated by seafarers from all over the world. Being so far from home and separated from their own children can be difficult, especially at this time of year, so knowing they are in the thoughts of local children makes a real difference.”
This year, why not send your Christmas wishes further and wider than usual and spread a little unexpected seasonal joy with the Maritime Museum and Mission to Seafarers.
