The Fal Mussel Card

The Fal Mussel Card

In 2010, King Harry’s Cornwall launched a pilot of the Fal Oyster Card. This pilot proved very successful and feedback indicated that the card was easy to use and excellent value for money. Following discussions with London Transport it was decided that the card would in future be known as the Fal Mussel Card. The ‘Mussel’ brand is now wholy owned  by Fal River Cornwall, formerly King Harry’s Cornwall.

There are three types of card available:
• The Fal Mussel Card Local offers half price travel on the King Harry and St Mawes  ferry as well as the other ferry services around the river and can be used between  April and October.
• The Fal Mussel Card Visitor gives the holder unlimited use of ferries, buses and  trains around the river and there are 1,2,3 and 6 day options.
• The Fal Mussel Card Visitor Plus gives unlimited entry to many of the gardens,  castles and attractions around the river

Over the coming months, the Fal River Cornwall brand will be developed as a destination and staff will be working with accommodation providers to offer packages. It is hoped that by enabling the Mussel Card to be a bolt-on, visitors will make less car journeys so that the number of cars on the roads can be reduced. There are also plans to link the Mussel Card to the Falmouth and Truro Shopper cards providing incentives for shopping within the town centres.

The NMMC is a partner on the Fal Mussel Card Visitor Plus scheme as well as the Park & Ride and Park & Float schemes. The Museum plays an important part in promoting local initiatives for the benefit of the town so buy your Fal Mussel Card today.
