Sustainability
We are committed to sustainability and protecting the environment and key elements include:
- Attended the Green Foundation Course - Equipping our business for the low carbon economy
- Energy audits and procedures reviewed regularly, leading to improved building management systems and a reduction in gas, water and electrical consumption
- Exploring installation of Photovoltaic Cells which will reduce our electrical demand
- Registered with CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
- Our 'Green Team' ensures we reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible
- Working to replace all display track lighting with lower energy bulbs
- Working with the ‘Take Pride in Falmouth’ initiative aimed at reducing litter and improving the appearance of Falmouth
- Local suppliers are used across all sectors
- All our print materials are designed and printed on recyclable materials by local firms
- A key educational programme for schools focuses on the Museum as an attraction, exploring ideas of economic regeneration and sustainability. Our early years programme introduces children to ideas around caring for the marine environment
- Displays explore the Fal-Helford Estuary as a Special Area of Conservation
- Visitors arriving by public transport receive discounted entry
- We encourage recycling and reuse by charging for bags
- By partnering the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Marine Biological Association we’ve raised awareness of the threat by invasive non-native plants and animals to the marine environment
